Fraser Health

Fraser Health is responsible for the delivery of hospital and community-based health services to over 1.9 million people in 20 diverse communities from Burnaby to Fraser Canyon on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Coast Salish and Nlaka’pamux Nations, and is home to six Métis Chartered Communities.

The Problem

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the health authorities worldwide were beyond capacity and struggling with how to cope with the challenges in front of them. At the same time, they wanted to make sure their story was told. Not just so the public could understand, but also to celebrate the work they were doing as a thank you for their efforts. The challenge was coming up with a story that was sensitive to the issues in front of them but also highlighted the acts of heroism. Not to mention, most of the world was still on lockdown, so how would we capture these moments with limited access and high risk.

The Result

We worked with the Fraser Health communications to develop a strategy to visit each of the main health and COVID-19 centres in the Fraser Health and feature key staff from executives thru to support staff, to help tell their story, but to also highlight the communities appreciation for their work.

A short documentary-style video that showcases both sides of the early stages of the pandemic while highlighting the work the health care workers in the Fraser Valley were doing to mitigate the virus and the challenges it created for our community.
